State Automobile Manufacturers Association latest statistics show that in May China's auto demand and production and sales ring both show a decline in the same period last year but continues to maintain steady growth.

     From the largest category of vehicles, commercial vehicles, passenger-vehicle production and sales is the only complete the previous month to maintain growth models; passenger cars in the multi-purpose passenger vehicles (MPV) and last month more than the rate of decline. Automobile production and sales this month rate reached 97.82 percent, slightly higher than the level last month.      January to May, China's automobile production and sales were 4355000 and 4337100, an increase of 17.05 percent and 18.91 percent. Passenger sales 3045100 and 3020600, an increase of 16.33 percent and 17.41 percent; commercial vehicle production and sales 1309900 and 1316500, an increase of 18.75 percent and 22.48 percent.
